Study Abroad in Vietnam
Spend Maymester 2007 in Vietnam. Study the history and culture of this ancient but rapidly developing country. Learn about its foreign policy, safety, public health, and environmental issues. See its natural wonders, its national treasures, Hanoi (once known as the Paris of the East). Dine on its unique and delicious cuisine. Courses will be taught both by UGA professors and faculty from Vietnamese universities.
The Program
The program seeks to provide students with a broad
understanding of the history and culture of Vietnam.
The program also focuses on the public health and
environmental problems facing this developing nation.
Classes are taught on location by UGA professors
in conjunction with partners from Vietnamese
universities and governmental entities, including the
Institute of International Relations, the Hanoi School
of Public Health, and Vietnam National University.
Locations
The program takes place primarily in Hanoi, Vietnam
(a United Nations World Heritage Site), and in
the final week, the program will move south to the
ancient imperial city of Hue and Quang Tri. Travels
also include a weekend visit to the Halong Bay resort
town.

- January 12, 2007 - $100 refundable deposit & application due
- February 23, 2007 - $1,000 non-refundable deposit due
- March 16 , 2007 - $1075 balance due

The Costs: The student fee for the program is $2175. This includes room, two meals a day, and local transportation while in Vietnam; scheduled fieldtrips; and medical insurance. Additional expenses not included are a visa ($100), tuition and fees at UGA (may use HOPE scholarship), airfare ($1,300), and spending money (gifts, eating out, laundry, etc.).
