Area of Specialty

Cameron Wiggins is a Program Coordinator working jointly within the Institute of Health Management and Mass Destruction Defense (IHMD) and the Department of Food Science and Technology.   He is responsible for managing the development of a food emergency response plan for the State of Georgia in cooperation with relevant state and federal agencies.   He will work with identified stakeholders to develop exercises of simulated scenarios to test and modify the plan based on the exercise outcomes.

 

He has over 7 years of Public Health experience in food protection and emergency preparedness and holds certifications with all three of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited personnel certification programs that are based on the Conference for Food Protection Standards. He is recognized as an Instructor within two of the personnel certification programs, and has attained various FEMA and American Medical Association certifications in emergency preparedness training.   As an Environmental Health Specialist III in the Northeast Georgia Public Health District 10, Cameron Wiggins was Chair of the District Food Protection Committee which operated as a review board, provided technical assistance, rule interpretation, and policy revision/development for 10 counties in Georgia.   During his 5 years with the Health District, he managed a Food Protection Program, was responsible for providing state-mandated standardization and certification training to District 10 Environmental Health Specialists, and conducted numerous foodborne illness and outbreak investigations.
