The Department of Health Promotion and Behavior, through its teaching, research, and service initiatives, generates knowledge about the social and behavioral determinants of health and applies that knowledge to the design, delivery and evaluation of disease prevention and health promotion programs.

Dr. Candace Parker, Instructor and Undergraduate Field Experience Coordinator for the department, was selected for participation in UGA's 2012-2013 Teaching Academy Fellows Program. This is an early career mentoring program coordinated by UGA's Teaching Academy with funding support from the Office of the Provost and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. The mission of the Teaching Academy is to promote and celebrate excellence in teaching, and to foster learning through inquiry. The program specifically addresses the Academy's goal of fostering a community of scholars who are committed to teaching.
