Community Model for Eliminating Population Health Disparities: Triangulation of Theory, Data, and Practice

Speaker:

Robert G. Robinson served as the Associate Director for Health Equity of the Office on Smoking and Health, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Prior to that he was a researcher with the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia and was the first chairperson of the African American Studies program at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. Dr. Robinson has developed national programs that in particular target the needs of Communities of Color, women, blue collar and agricultural workers, gays and lesbians, low income and youth and policy and program initiatives for South America and Sub-Sahara Africa. He was responsible for development of the Pathways to Freedom (PTF) program which remains the state-of-art tobacco control program for the African American community. For his work in tobacco control in the African American community, Dr. Robinson was honored with the Robert G. Robinson Nguzo Saba Award in 2005 by the National African American Tobacco Prevention Network.
