The College of Public Health at the University of Georgia invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track Assistant Professor Faculty position in the Department of Health Policy and Management. The successful candidate will assume a key role in developing new undergraduate courses in the Department of Health Policy and Management. Additional responsibilities include being the Director of the College of Public Health’s Undergraduate Minor in Public Health.

The University of Georgia is located in Athens, a vibrant community located in the hills of Northern Georgia. Athens is renowned for music and arts as well as collegiate athletics.  Hiking, biking, rafting, and other outdoor activities are popular year-round and the bustling urban center of Atlanta, located seventy miles to the west, offers all of the amenities of a world-class city.

Applicants for this tenure-track position should have an advanced degree (PhD, DrPH, or other relevant health professional degree) in health policy, health management, or a related discipline. ABD applicants will be considered at the Assistant Professor rank but must complete all degree requirements for the advanced degree by August 1, 2013. The Department of Health Policy and Management at UGA is dynamic and multi-dimensional, comprised of ten tenure track faculty members and eleven associated and adjunct faculty. HPAM faculty members are very student centered and are dedicated to expanding our undergraduate curriculum. Currently, HPAM offers emphasis areas in both health systems management and health policy within the Master of Public Health Degree. Successful applicants will have familiarity with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives with undergraduates. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience beyond teaching assistantship and proof of excellence in the classroom. The successful candidate will be responsible for a 4-4 teaching load (a maximum of 4 individual preparations for the academic year) in undergraduate courses: Introduction to Public Health, Introduction to Health Policy, and one section each of a new health policy course and a new health management course to be developed by the candidate. The University of Georgia has a widely respected Center for Teaching and Learning for pedagogical enhancement that will be available for course development.
