The University of Georgia's College of Public Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Phaedra S. Corso, Ph.D. as head of the Department of Health Policy and Management. Dr. Corso earned a Ph.D. from Harvard University with a concentration in Health Policy. She has considerable public health experience having worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for nearly 15 years before coming to UGA. While at CDC, she served as a management analyst, disease investigation specialist, economic analyst, lead health economist, and prior to joining UGA, she served as the Acting Chief of the Prevention Development and Evaluation Branch. For the last three years, Corso has served as an associate professor in UGA's Department of Health Policy and Management. Her research focuses on the practical application of economic evaluation for setting health policy, specifically related to population-based public health interventions; quality of life assessment for vulnerable populations; evaluating preferences for health risks; violence and injury prevention.
