Distance Learning Partnership in Gerontology

The Distance Learning Partnership in Gerontology is a program operated as part of the Georgia Gerontology Consortium. The Distance Learning Partnership provides an opportunity to share instructional resources in Gerontology at the advanced undergraduate and graduate levels among universities in the University System of Georgia. This is accomplished through the use of advanced distance and collaborative learning technologies, including the Georgia Statewide Academic and Medical System (GSAMS) and WebCT. To date, ten University System of Georgia institutions either are or have participated in the Partnership.

Four core gerontology courses have been taught in this partnership since 1996:

1. Survey of Gerontology/Seminar in Aging
2. Biology of Aging/Human Physical Aging
3. Psychology of Aging
4. Sociology of Aging

These courses have been delivered to well over 1,000 upper-division undergraduate and graduate students.
