Student training assistantships

The Institute of Gerontology nominates graduate students from participating departments to compete for the University-wide Graduate Assistantships funded by the Graduate School. This serves to attract quality students to the University. Other assistantships and support opportunities are available through federally and foundation funded research grants. The Institute of Gerontology informs enrolled students on a regular basis whenever such support opportunities arise.

Post-doctoral and sabbatical training support

The Institute of Gerontology also encourages and supports post-doctoral training in various sub-specialties of gerontology. Inquiries can be directed to the Institute of Gerontology or a specific faculty member in the department of interest. Funding for post-doctoral support can be made through individual post-doctoral fellowships from the National Institutes of Health and other federal and private sources, and requires at least nine months of lead time to secure finding.

Aging-related research and travel support.

Support opportunities for faculty and student aging-related research or travel are available through the Georgia Gerontology Consortium's Seed Grant Program.
