The Institute offers a graduate certificate in gerontology. Honors undergraduates are also eligible to obtain the Graduate Certificate. The program is multidisciplinary and contains sufficient flexibility to permit students to tailor the focus of their Certificate work to their particular interests.

The Institute of Gerontology organizes, operates, and conducts a Faculty Instruction, Research, and Outreach Development Program as one arm of The Georgia Gerontology Consortium.

The goal of the Faculty Instruction, Research, and Outreach Development Program is to strengthen areas in gerontological instruction, research, and outreach that faculty and participating universities wish to develop. The Program supports colloquia, symposia, salons, workshops, conferences, retreats, and similar events.

The Program takes advantage of the expertise and networking contacts possessed by The University of Georgia Institute of Gerontology and event cosponsors. The University of Georgia Institute of Gerontology website is used to announce events and to make available germane materials pertaining to them. Check the News & Events page of this site for upcoming events.

The Program's infrastructure is supported by The University of Georgia Institute of Gerontology. Funding to support specific events derives from a variety of sources, including contributions from cosponsoring institutions, departments, foundations, etc.

It would be impossible to list all events sponsored by the Program since its inception in 1995. Information about events sponsored by this Program is available upon request from the University of Georgia Institute of Gerontology.
