2008 Student Recognition Ceremony in Gerontology

Each year, we formally acknowledge our Gerontology Certificate recipients and induct the new members of the Sigma Phi Omega, Kappa Chapter organization with a special ceremony for the students and their families.  This year's ceremony took place on April 3, 2008 at the Institute of Gerontology.

2008 19th Annual Student Mentoring Conference in Gerontology and Geriatrics

The 19th Annual Southeastern Student Mentoring Conference took place on March 28-29, 2008 in Tybee Island, Georgia, and was a huge success. This Conference, co-sponosred by 9 universities in the Southeast, seeks to provide students with practical experiences associated with academic and applied gerontology.

GEC Funding Continued

The Institute announces the continuation of funding of its Georgia Geriatric Education Center (GGEC). This $1.26 million dollar grant is funded by the Health Research Service Administration beginning September 1, 2007 to June 30, 2010. The mission of this Center is to increase health literacy and to train health professionals in the care and safety of older adults, especially in Georgia's medically-underserved areas.    » Read more
