On May 16-17, 2008, the Georgia Geriatric Education Center presented "Improving Palliative and End-of-Life Care for Frail Older Adults" Conference at the University of Georgia. The objectives of the conference included learning more about innovations in hospice care, why and how to start a palliative care consult in your hospital, and why and how to improve end-of-life care in your nursing home.

Each year, we formally acknowledge our Gerontology Certificate recipients and induct the new members of the Sigma Phi Omega, Kappa Chapter organization with a special ceremony for the students and their families.  This year's ceremony took place on April 3, 2008 at the Institute of Gerontology.

The 19th Annual Southeastern Student Mentoring Conference took place on March 28-29, 2008 in Tybee Island, Georgia, and was a huge success. This Conference, co-sponosred by 9 universities in the Southeast, seeks to provide students with practical experiences associated with academic and applied gerontology.
