2008 19th Annual Student Mentoring Conference in Gerontology and Geriatrics
The 19th Annual Southeastern Student Mentoring Conference took place on March 28-29, 2008 in Tybee Island, Georgia, and was a huge success. This Conference, co-sponsored by 9 universities in the Southeast, seeks to provide students with practical experiences associated with academic and applied gerontology. The Conference was conceived as a vehicle for students to network with key professionals in aging and to gain first hand experiences in all aspects of organizing and hosting a conference, including post-convention monographs and publications.
Further, the Convention is used to promote student professional development, share important student work in the fields of gerontology and geriatrics, and teach faculty/student mentoring. Attendance at the Conference is open to all persons interested in gerontology and geriatrics, including the general public. You can see this year's program, and past student-edited conference monographs here.
We would like to thank all of the 2008 attendees, and wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. We also hope to see you back next year for the special 20th anniversary conference which will be held at The University of Georgia in Athens!
