Area of Specialty
Dr. Lee’s overall research interests are translating basic and applied nutrition research into 1) developing and implementing effective and beneficial nutrition programs and interventions, 2) providing empirical and practical guidance for individuals, nutritionists, health professionals, administrators, and policy makers, and 3) evaluating the effectiveness of these programs and guidance to promote overall well-being of older adults. Dr. Lee’s research projects have been concentrated on such topics as food insecurity, food assistance programs, weight management, body composition, oral health, and community-based nutrition intervention to help older adults maintain and promote healthy, happy, and independent lives. Dr. Lee’s work uses multidisciplinary approaches combining nutrition, epidemiology, human development (gerontology), and program evaluation, and both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
