Cancer link still unseen - Residents near gas line surveyed again

Surveyors did not find an unusual number of cancers or other illnesses as they went door-to-door to question people who live within a one-mile radius of a natural gas pipeline booster station in Madison County.  The survey, prompted by the concerns of residents living near the Williams Transco booster station in Comer, found 12 cancer cases - nearly half of them were skin cancers - among 38 households visited during the past three months, Northeast Health District officials said.   » Read more

UGA researcher finds physical, emotional burden of breast cancer lingers for older survivors

Surviving breast cancer is both a physical and an emotional ordeal, but the consensus among researchers is that life generally returns to normal for most women within two years of completing treatment. And while that time frame may hold true for younger women, a new study by a researcher at the University of Georgia College of Public Health finds that women over age 70 fare much worse.   » Read more
