Assistant to the Director
The Center is a new national center established with a 5-year $16 million NIH U54 grant plus additional institutional support, and conducts research, training and outreach related to childhood obesity and non-communicable chronic diseases.
The Assistant to the Director will support the Center Director in working on center research, training and outreach activities, including domestic and overseas ones.
These include preparing evidence-based materials, planning and organizing meetings, assisting in workplan implementation, and other types of project development and implementation activities, provide administrative support to the Center.
Degree: Bachelors required; Masters are acceptable.
Related work experience: Three or more years of related experience required; education may be substituted for some years of work experience. Previous experience with international activities helpful.
Knowledge and skills required: Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, E-mail/Internet, excellent interpersonal and writing skills. Familiarity with University procedures, NIH-funded projects and international collaboration a plus.
The successful candidate will have strong coordinative and administrative skills, including project management. Position requires high energy, capacity to work quickly, yet accurately. It also requires superb communication (oral and writing) skills, tact, and sensitivity. Patience, language skills, and foresight are important attributes.
