Department Head and Professor, Department of Environmental Health Science

The Department of Environmental Health Science, College of Public Health at The University of Georgia (http://www.uga.edu/publichealth/ehs/) Athens, Georgia, seeks an established scholar to lead the Department. Candidates must have an earned doctorate and an established record of teaching, scholarly, and scientific achievement sufficient to merit appointment at the level of full professor. Other minimum qualifications include: 1) evidence of leadership and likelihood of success in an academic setting; 2) demonstrated success in securing external research funding; 3) a willingness to foster multidisciplinary collaboration and 4) possess interpersonal skills to effectively interact with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff, and college and university administrators.

The Department of Environmental Health Science is part of the recently established College of Public Health at the University of Georgia. This new college is a key component of the University’s major commitment to achieving national and international leadership in research and teaching in public health and the biomedical sciences. Current research and teaching programs in the Department include aquatic, chemical, computational, developmental and genetic toxicology, risk assessment, microbiology, air quality, exposure assessment, environmental epidemiology, and food safety. The Department offers programs of study leading to degrees at the bachelor’s (BSEH), master’s (MS, MPH), and doctoral (PhD, DrPH) levels. The successful candidate will be expected to provide vision and leadership for the continued growth and development of the Department while performing as a scholar, teacher, and faculty colleague and mentor. There are substantial opportunities for research collaborations with other programs, institutes, and centers at the University, and with nearby institutions and agencies, including the US EPA and USDA, with research and service branches located in Athens, and the CDC in Atlanta.

Head, Department of Health Policy and Management (pdf format)

The College of Public Health at the University of Georgia invites applications and nominations for Head of the Department of Health Policy and Management. We seek candidates who are full professors and will consider candidates who are experienced associate professors. The successful candidate will assume the leading role in developing this new department and its reputation for excellence in research and education. Applicants should have an advanced degree (PhD, DrPH, or MD) in health policy, health administration, medicine, gerontology/geriatrics, health economics, public policy, or other related discipline. The successful applicant will possess: (1) extensive experience in one or more of the fields mentioned, (2) demonstrated leadership ability, (3) relevant administrative experience and (4) an established record of accomplishment in research, teaching and extramural funding.

Professor of Biostatistics, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (pdf format)

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Georgia invites applications for an open-rank tenured or tenure track faculty position in Biostatistics. A PhD in Biostatistics or Statistics and an established record of excellence in teaching and extramurally funded research are required. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take a leadership role in the further development of the program in biostatistics.

Food Safety Epidemiologist, University of Georgia (pdf format)

The Colleges of Public Health and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia invite applications for a tenure tract assistant professorship in food safety epidemiology. This position is a nine month appointment jointly funded by both colleges. The successful candidate is expected to expand the growing research and instructional programs related to food safety at the University of Georgia. A PhD in epidemiology is required and a DVM degree is preferred.

The College of Veterinary Medicine has an established reputation for excellent research programs focused on infectious diseases with established centers at the Animal Health Research Center, the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center, and the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study. Vibrant growing programs in food safety and epidemiology have collaborative relationships with the College of Public Health, the Center for Food Safety, and the Department of Food Science and Technology.
