The College of Public Health at the University of Georgia invites applications and nominations for a faculty position in the Department of Health Policy and Management. As the only public CEPH accredited school of public health in Georgia, the College of Public Health promotes health in human populations through innovative research, exemplary education, and engaged service dedicated to preventing disease and injury within the state and around the world. We seek candidates who are at the assistant or associate level. The successful candidate will assume a key role in developing the management curriculum for the department, in addition to expanding the College’s research portfolio in health administration and management.

Applicants should have an advanced degree (PhD, DrPH, or other relevant health professional degree) in health administration, finance, health services research, health informatics, management, health policy or a related discipline. (Students in the final stages of degree completion will be considered.) The successful applicant will possess experience in one or more of the fields mentioned, and a promising record or potential for accomplishment in teaching,

Public Service Assistant (pdf format)

This UGA Public Service tract position is funded by a consortium of OneAthens Partners--the community (Athens-Clarke County Mayor’s office), hospitals (Athens Regional Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital), and the College of Public Health. The position, also known as the OneAthens Public Health Professional, is full-time, temporary with a faculty appointment in an academic department within UGA’s College of Public Health and will be located in Athens. This new position is designed to impact difficult issues around increasing health care costs and access to health care in the Athens community, and the subsequent impact on community and economic development.

The incumbent will facilitate the outreach, community-based research and student experiential learning for academic units while directing these resources to improve access to health care and reduce health care costs in the Athens community; and, promote health education and the use of preventive medical services already available in the community. The incumbent is expected to implement the OneAthens Healthcare Plan developed over the past two years by the OneAthens Health Team, engage UGA resources, and mobilize both state and federal agencies and resources to support the plan. Annual performance evaluations will be conducted jointly by the UGA Senior Associate Dean for Public Health-Outreach, appropriate UGA department head and selected community partners.

The position requires a Masters of Public Health or other advanced public health degree (DrPH, PhD) with a concentration in Health Policy and Management. Ideally, candidates should have at least three years of community based experience.
